Chipotle vs. Frank Ocean: Singer ends $212K beef with burrito chain using profane personal cheque

Grammy-winning singer Frank Ocean has put a swift end to a lawsuit launched from fast-food chain Chipotle, sending the franchise a personal cheque for $212,500 – and a very salty memo.
 Chipotle sued Ocean after the singer pulled out of a planned endorsement last year. Ocean is reported to have recorded a version of the song Pure Imagination, which the restaurant chain was planning to use in an ad.
 But when Ocean saw the clip and noticed Chipotle had added its logo, he refused to allow the chain to use his recording. (Yes, you read that correctly: Frank Ocean signed a deal with Chipotle to let Chipotle use his music in an ad for Chipotle, but was upset once the ad for Chipotle was revealed to be an ad for Chipotle.) The company sued Ocean earlier this week for $212,5000, which is reportedly the amount Ocean had been paid in advance to record the song. Apparently not keen to involve himself in a legal battle, Ocean has already repaid the amount – but made his thoughts on the matter clear in the cheque’s memo field, in which the singer wrote “f–k off.”
 Ocean posted the cheque to his Tumblr site. Frank Ocean won the 2013 Grammy Award for Best Urban Contemporary Album for his record, Channel Orange.

Posey drives in 4 runs to lead Giants over Reds

GOODYEAR, Ariz. (AP) — Buster Posey had a three-run homer off Tony Cingrani among his three hits, leading the San Francisco Giants over the Cincinnati Reds 8-5 Tuesday.
 Posey added an RBI double and a single as the Giants overcame a three-run deficit. The Reds scored three quick runs off Tim Hudson.
 Todd Frazier doubled home two runs in the first. Billy Hamilton doubled home Skip Schumaker, who started in left field, giving the Reds the lead after two innings. Hunter Pence started his second game after resting a sore shoulder.
 He tripled after Posey's home run. Ehire Adrianza hit his second home run of the spring, a two-run shot off Cingrani, who allowed six runs after pitching seven scoreless innings, including the first two innings of this appearance.
 Schumaker, who signed a two-year deal with the Reds in November, doubled and hit a solo home run off Hudson. He is hitting .550 this spring.

49ers trade 6th-round pick for quarterback Blaine Gabbert

Blaine Gabbert, the 10th pick in the 2011 draft, didn't resemble a franchise quarterback in three forgettable seasons with the Jaguars. In his fourth season, however, the 49ers hope Gabbert can simply serve as a capable backup to Colin Kaepernick, who was taken 26 picks later that year.
 On Tuesday, the 49ers traded a sixth-round pick to Jacksonville to acquire Gabbert, 24, who has thrown 22 touchdown passes and 24 interceptions and posted a 66.4 rating in his career. ESPN reported the compensation the Jaguars received.
 "We thought highly of Blaine as an early entry into the 2011 NFL draft," 49ers general manager Trent Baalke said.
 "He is a high-character individual that will be given every opportunity to develop within our system, and we are looking forward to working with him.
" After starting 24 games in his first two seasons, Gabbert started only three games last year because of injuries and eventually ceded the starting spot to Chad Henne. In his three starts in 2013, Gabbert threw one touchdown, seven interceptions and had a 36.0 rating. Gabbert is scheduled to earn a $2.01 million base salary in 2014, while Kaepernick will earn $973,766.
 Of course, Jim Harbaugh, who attended Gabbert's pro day at Missouri in 2011, is known as a top developer of quarterbacks, and he could be intrigued by Gabbert's size (6-foot-4, 235 pounds) and strong arm.
 Last year, the 49ers traded for another highly drafted young quarterback, Cleveland's Colt McCoy, to serve as Kaepernick's backup. McCoy, an unrestricted free agent, is expected to sign elsewhere. McLeod Bethel-Thompson, a San Francisco native who has never thrown a regular-season pass, is the only other quarterback on the 49ers roster.
